They steal our hearts. They steal our breath.
They steal our sanity.
And we let them.
Over and over and over again. They say you never forget your first time.
Mine was with a homeless musician who effed my brains out under a
bridge. He was my first love. And fourteen years later, I still can’t get him out of my
head.He broke all my rules.
He also broke my heart.I watched him climb to stardom, cheering him on from afar.
But I was never a fan; just a girl in love.Like a tornado, he spiraled, leaving a path of destruction in his wake. But love conquers all, right? It has to. Because here I stand, ravaged and
ruined, needing it to be true. You can’t go back, but I want to. Back to the bridge. Back to when he sang only
for me. Before he was famous. Before he shattered my heart.I thought I knew everything about him.
But I could not have been more wrong. He promised me every tomorrow. And here I am, waiting.
❤️ My Review:
Eek! I’m so in love with this story and the spectacular writing. What a beautiful moving love story that’s written with amazing care and respect about the sensitive subject of mental illness. I appreciate the way this author approached the subject and wove the effects of this disease into a heartbreaking and emotional love story. As someone familiar with mental illness this is so authentic in the details of the gut wrenching and tragic results of the illness on a relationship and life. The characters, Piper and Evan, are so realistic and absolutely amazing in their devotion and love for each other. I was draw into this story from the beginning and was captivating by the lovely awkwardness of Piper and the sexy mystery of Evan/Blue. These two are so unalike but were draw to each other and developed a relationship that torn at my heart strings and left me breathless. High emotion and high heat in a story that is so gorgeous and heart aching. Sometimes the co-dependency was overwhelming and Piper was too forgiving but that’s was love means to some people. This story and the characters will stay with me for a long time. It’s just one of those stories.
I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.
Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
