When falling is easy, people often forget about the crash.
The time has finally come for Marcus Guzzi to step into his birthright. He’s the firstborn—the next boss to take over his family’s mafia and he’s never been more ready. With an MC encroaching on Guzzi territory, family expectations following him, and more responsibility on his shoulders than ever, what’s one more thing added to his ever-growing list of duties when his father asks for a favor? He just didn’t expect that favor to bring with it a woman he can’t ignore.
Cella Marcello is a lot of things. Single mother. Daughter of a former New York Underboss. A highly sought-after interior designer. Widow. The one thing she’s learned about life after all that’s happened in hers? It keeps moving on, and so does she. When a contract for a penthouse design takes her to Toronto, she isn’t ready for the gorgeously dangerous man waiting there to make sure she has everything she needs. Even if the thing she needs is him.
Marcus is everything she never wanted before now. He wasn’t even looking for someone like her. When the traumas of the past take center stage, these two will need to decide if the chance at forever is worth the risk.
The final Guzzi Legacy novel …
Note: Marcus is a standalone romance within The Guzzi Legacy series.
The stark contrast between the vice president of the Quebec chapter of the Riders—a one-percenter motorcycle club that had a heavy hand in dealing with illegal pills and prostitutionbetween Quebec and Ontario—and Marcus in his three-piece suit was never more obvious thanin those moments. Here they were, dining in a five-star restaurant Marcus had closed down to thepublic for this goddamn meeting, and the VP came with his men in tow, on bikes, wearing theirdenim and leather.
The disrespect started there.
And it had yet to end.
“Excusez-moi?” Marcus asked, choosing French to reply to the man because he knew the biker—Glen, he went by—was French-born first. His last name, Cote, a testament to his heritage.“What does my age have to do with this conversation we’re trying to have here? Because I ampretty sure the answer is nothing.”
Glen grinned, but it came off as more like a sneer. His French accent heavily colored his wordswhen he replied in English, “I’m wondering if you should even be here sitting at this table, or if Ishould have waited for something with a few more years and a bit of … understanding about thisbusiness of ours, oui?”
Marcus had every urge to grind his teeth right down to the fucking roots because that rightthere was a low blow, and he didn’t doubt the other man knew it. In the world of mafioso, whereMarcus had been born and bred from the moment he took his first breath, if a man sat at the table… it was because he earned his place there. Questioning it only meant more disrespect, and shit, hadn’t he taken enough of that from this asshole today?
He thought so.
“We’re not here to discuss my age,” Marcus said, leaning back a bit in his chair to get back tohis previously unbothered, calm disposition before the asshole across the table tried to changethe subject. “We’re here to discuss the fact that your club has decided to take issue with theGuzzi organization taking over the maple syrup farm—”
“In our territory.”
Marcus arched a brow. “Let me ask you a question, yeah? Indulge me, you know, in all myignorance because of my age and whatnot. Would you?”
Any man Marcus had brought into this meeting would have known right away that statementwas nothing more than bait. Only a stupid man would take it because once it was thrown outthere, it meant Marcus had come to really play. As the underboss of his father’s Cosa Nostra, hedidn’t have time to play very much. Everything was serious. Walk the fucking line, type of deal.Three-piece suits every single day, up before the sun rose and walking the streets to do the kindof business, he’d been doing for most of his life.
He was made.
So, when he took a minute to play, if a fucker was stupid enough to take the bait, he was goingto reel them right in. Until he could snap their goddamn necks. The idiot across the table fromhim included. As he thought, the man took the bait.
Because of course.
“Sure, why not,” Glen muttered. “As if we all have time today, ask me a question, Marcus.”
His jaw ticked.
It’d been Marcus from the moment he walked in the door. Not sir or Guzzi or even mister. Asthough they were on a first name basis, despite the fact that Marcus repeatedly and clearlycorrected the asshole every time he used his first name. Something else to add to the pile ofdisrespect. He wished he was shocked.
“Do you assume when I put this suit on and get in my black Mercedes you saw me arrive inthat I suddenly become a man who doesn’t know how to nail your head to the wall with a well-placed bullet?”
Glen stiffened, his tattooed arms bulging when they flexed at his chest. “Is that a threat,Guzzi?”
Ah, so now it was Guzzi, huh?
I dying here! It can’t be over!! I love all the mafia series from this fantastic author but this is one of my favorites. Knowing where these Guzzi boys came from led to this fantastic finale of the Legacy. And what a legacy for the heir to the Guzzi Cosa Nostra empire. The TDF Marcus. Such a badass Boss, always. Demanding the respect he deserves and always in control and in command of his kingdom. Saved the best for last? Maybe, but I loved Corrado and Alessio’s duet. I’ve been waiting for Marcus’ story as he watch and protect over his brothers in the other stories and learned how to be the Boss from his father, Gian. As the oldest and only singleton with all the twins he was always different. Add in Gian’s lessons and you have a spectacular man. Hot, handsome and powerful. Marcus needs a fabulous woman and finds one in Cella Marcello. It’s mafia heaven! A Guzzi and Marcello is the perfect way to end this series. I loved the peeks of the wonderful Marcellos. Lucia and Renzo are some of my favs. And the growing Guzzi family with the indomitable Cara as the mother of all mothers. I loved the ingenious bad guys that add the drama and danger in this story and the way Marcus responds when his loved ones are affected. But is it too much for Cella with her tragic background and a mother’s need to protect her daughter? She’s so strong and just what Marcus needs as he moves into his power and place as the Boss. Once again this author has delivered another terrific story with a sexy romance set in the always exciting and dangerous mafia world. I need another story though with more of Marcus, Cella, Tiff and their family. A Christmas story? I’m in! I will say I’m disappointed in the cover. Marcus needs his three-piece suit!
