MY REVIEW:

A chilling start to a new Russian Bravta series. This author does the criminal underworld like no other and this is another fantastic story. The Boykovs are a family of cold, brutal alphas with a penance for violence. The father, Vadim is the worst! Always dealing out the harsh lessons to his sons, Kolya and Konstantin. What a pair these two are! Hot, handsome princes that always get the job done for their nasty father. I loved the brotherly love between Kolya and Konstantin. They could so easily have been fighting each other for the throne but they worked together and tried to shield the other from their father. Even Vadim’s favorite, his daughter Viktoria, is a cold alpha. I can’t wait for her story! This starts out fast with a bloody lesson to a betrayer. Kolya is the one that is front and center as he deals out the punishment and then finds his salvation in the eyes of the waif Maya. She’s had a rough life and doesn’t fight when Kolya decides her fate. Nothing could be worse that what she endured at the hands of her family. Right from the start I knew this was not the same ole underworld romance. It was something unusual and beautiful and it just is what it is. Sexy, sweet and undeniable. But there’s a price to pay because she is promised to the Albanians and they want her. This sets up a war that costs the Bratva as they deal with the Albanians and a mystery foe. I was in suspense waiting for all the brutality to end and to find out if Kolya and Maya would last. With everything going against them it was iffy. She was not the woman for a Boykov prince and future leader of the Bravta. But Kolya is determined to keep her regardless of the cost. There’s loads of action, suspense, dirty dealings and the ultimate price for our lovers as they fight to stay together. One of the best parts that melted my heart was Kolya’s feelings for his puppy. So sweet. I could tell there’s was more to him than just the brutal killer and he proved it time and again in his sweet and sexy treatment of Maya. The story ended rather abruptly for me but maybe I just wanted more. I’m hoping the smart, controlled Kon is next. Another intriguing character is the Reaper. He has to have an interesting story. This is a fabulous love story set in a brutal and bloody Bravta world with sexy tattooed Russians and one irresistible woman. A must read!
