Silas

He wasn’t my friend until he became my enemy.
His center is freezing cold,
and his edges burn me when I get too close.
He is everything I want and nothing I am.
They say not to burn bridges,
but he burned ours to the ground.
Skyler
She is the girl who wants to be seen,
but hates being noticed.
She was my friend, my tease, my confidant.
She is pure light against all my darkness.
The reason you burn down bridges,
is to build them up stronger.
Brightly Burning Bridges is a standalone romance and part of the Kings of Capital series.

Writer of all things untamed, romantic and free, Ivy Wild never planned on becoming a romance novelist. In fact, she hated romance as a kid and was quite proud of that fact. Basically, life is weird.

Married to her own alpha hero, she currently lives in various places of the world at various times thanks to his military career.

Her current side hustle is being a lawyer.

MY REVIEW:

Moody and emotional! Not a lot of bullying just a mean rich boy that treats a poor girl horribly in public but differently behind closed doors. This spans ten years give or take in flashbacks to high school when bad boy Silas bullies new girl Skyler to uphold his image as the king. He’s a sour guy with a sad home life, a bad attitude but a beautiful exterior. She’s has an interesting physical condition that’s the bane of her existence. The two have a love/hate relationship with a few angsty, poignant encounters during high school that ends with a nasty event that leaves the two in tatters. Ten years later and a chance encounter has the two in close proximity again and old feelings are resurrected. Then drama hits and an old adversary pops up to cause trouble with a few strange twists. It sort of fell apart during the drama with the unrealistic business aspect relative to a minor. For me it was a little slow and long but I was all in wanting to see how the romance played out. There was a nice ending that leaves our couple in a good place with friends and loved ones. Overall it was an enjoyable read with an interesting couple in Silas and Skyler. I haven’t read the previous books in this series but based on this one I will. Worth the read!
