Johnny Reed is a music god and recovering drug addict. When his foster sister and best friend, Belle, found love in the small town of Kingsbury Falls, she offered him a place to call home. After an overdose that almost cost him his life, heโ€™s been struggling to find his way.

Being on the road doesn’t hold the same allure it once did, and although he doesn’t want to give up living the dream of fame and fortune, Johnny finds himself increasingly drawn back to Kingsbury Falls.

Dr. Ellie Sawyer is an accomplished New York psychiatrist, and having built a successful private practice of her own, sheโ€™s looking for something more out of life. When the opportunity arises to run and expand the Mustang Ranch horse therapy center, she jumps at the chance. Not only is she great at her job, she also has extraordinary compassion for everyone who walks through her door.

Johnny and Ellie each come to Kingsbury Falls to leave their old lives behind and stop making the same mistakes again and again, but when their worlds collide, the chemistry they share is undeniable.

Will Johnny risk his sobriety for love?

Will Ellie cross the line for a chance of happily ever after?

I’m happiest when wandering through the uncharted territory of my imagination. You’ll find me curled up with my laptop, browsing the books at the local library, or enjoying the smell of a new book, taking great delight in cracking the spine and writing in the margins!

Eva is a native Scot but lives in Texas with her husband, two kids, and a whizzy little fur baby with the most ridiculous ears. She first fell in love with British literature while majoring in Linguistics, 17th Century Poetry, and Shakespeare at University. She is an avid reader and lifelong notebook hoarder. In 2014, she finally put her extensive collection to good use and started writing her first novel. Now writing in three sub-genres of romance, Eva is currently working on some exciting new projects for 2021.

MY REVIEW:
Angsty romance and wise cracking friends! This Mustang Ranch bunch is so much fun with their true friendship and truer love. When rock god Johnny shows up in his time of need this fabulous group brings him into the fold and provides an atmosphere of loving healing. He was introduced to Mustang Ranch by his sister’s boyfriend Knox in a previous story in the series. Johnny’s hit rock bottom and is in K Falls to get back his life and repair his relationship with his sister Belle. A newbie to the group is NYC transplant and therapist Ellie. She’s a lovely woman with a beautiful outside and a heartfelt inside. It’s love at first sight when she meets the troubled rockstar but with a few reservations regarding his struggle with his sobriety. There are a lot of emotional moments in the story with Johnny’s journey to overcome his addiction and comes to terms with his past. The heavy subjects are not weighted down with too much grief and handwringing. There’s a twist that’s fairly obvious regarding Johnny’s therapy that’s causes a rift between Ellie and Johnny. For the most part it’s smooth sailing between the new lovers as they fall into an fast and sexy relationship. The looming return of Johnny to the road and his rocker life is cause for concern. Will he stay sober and what about those groupies? Drama ensues but it’s resolved quickly. Some of the humor is a little frat boy for me and the story seems a bit paint by the numbers in its simplicity. It’s an easy read with a group of terrific characters in a wonderful small town, cowboy setting. I really like this group of friends and their heartwarming family and friends love. Looks like Ellie’s friend Piper and the town’s widower is up next. It’s sure to be a sexy heart twister with single dad, cute kids and one hot nanny. Good times to be had at Mustang Ranch!
