Mummies.
Yeah, you heard me right. Thatโ€™s my next jobโ€”protecting a mummy.
It wouldnโ€™t be a problem, except someone doesnโ€™t want this particular mummy to make it to the museum.
Not to mention one of my teammates thinks this particular mummy is cursed.
On top of this ridiculous job, Iโ€™ve also met the most gorgeous woman in the world.
Except, sheโ€™s anti-gun, anti-meat, anti-everything that makes me who I am. And sheโ€™s from California.

I really f*@king hate California.
And sheโ€™s a screenwriter with absolutely zero experience, writing a story with a ton of action.
No, cars do not just explode while driving down the road. And contrary to popular opinion, it really is hard to shoot out tires from a moving vehicle, especially when youโ€™re firing into the wind.
But the worst part is how excited everyone at OPS is to help her. Fox, New Guyโ€ฆeven Brock has decided to take up a career in acting.
I would walk away, but despite the fact that sheโ€™s from California, I find myself needing to be with her. Sheโ€™s more than she seems, and Iโ€™m determined to find out every last detail before she gets blown up trying to learn about explosives.
I just have to keep IRIS away from her.

โ€œSo, no problems on the way home?โ€ he asked, turning to face us.

โ€œNope. We got away clean.โ€

โ€œAnd that?โ€ he jerked his thumb at the back.

I cringed slightly. โ€œHe had anโ€ฆโ€ I glanced over at Eli for the best wording.

โ€œAn adverse reaction to the mummy.โ€

โ€œRight,โ€ I nodded.

โ€œLikeโ€ฆhe touched it and broke out in hives?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t even say that shit,โ€ Eli said quickly, keeping his voice low. โ€œHe already thinks weโ€™re all under some ancient Egyptian curse. We donโ€™t need to put any more thoughts in his head.โ€

Cash crossed his arms over his chest and looked at us inquiringly. โ€œAnd why does he think heโ€™s under a curse?โ€

I snorted, not even sure how to answer that. โ€œHe just started freaking out because we made him sit in the back with the sarcophagus. Then he started reading out ancient curses and it spiraled out of control from there.โ€

โ€œSoโ€ฆnothing actually happened.โ€

I shot a look over at Eli, remembering the locusts. Scratching the back of my head, I told him what happened. โ€œWellโ€ฆwhen we left the safe house, there might have been a swarm of locusts, and he may have been under the influence of some drugs that may have led him to believe that the swarm was a hell of a lot bigger than it was.โ€

โ€œHow big was it?โ€ he asked, his brows furrowed.

I shrugged lightly, but it was Eli that stepped in. โ€œNo more than a ten mile radius.โ€

โ€œFifteen at best,โ€ I added.

โ€œThatโ€™sโ€ฆnot a swarm. A swarm is literally likeโ€ฆaround your head. Christ, no wonder he flipped out. And you hogtied him in the back of the van.โ€

โ€œWhat the hell were we supposed to do? He was freaking out.โ€

โ€œAnd then you laid him next to the fucking mummy,โ€ he huffed. โ€œGood work. You made your teammate go insane,โ€ he said, clapping us both on the shoulders. โ€œRemind me to never go on a mission with you again.โ€

He turned to leave. โ€œHey!โ€ Eli shouted. โ€œWhat the hell are we supposed to do with the sarcophagus?โ€

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you put it in your room and sleep with it for the night. See how you feel in the morning,โ€ he shouted over his shoulder.

I looked at Eli, still not sure what we were supposed to do with the fucking thing. โ€œSoโ€ฆyour room?โ€

I’m a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, “No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book.” I didn’t think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn’t already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven’t been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.
