The first time I laid eyes on Julien Umbra, he made me cry.

That makes him sound mean, but grumpy would be more of an apt description. Besides, I always cry when Iā€™m drunk.

Hate is a strong, strong word.

Iā€™m back for another semester at Savage U, nursing a bruised heart and shattered ego. Thatā€™s what happens when your ex cheats and everyone knows.

Worse than that, the girl my ex told me not to worry about and then banged is vying for the one thing I want: drum captain of the marching band.

Pretend all you want to.

I have a chance to get what I want, thereā€™s just one little thing I have to do: fake date the grumpy guy in the hoodie. The one who sits alone at the front of the class and growls at anyone who speaks to him.

But Julien doesnā€™t growl at me, and to my surprise, he agrees to be my fake boyfriend.

Breaking the already brokenā€¦

Julien is scarred in more ways than one, but heā€™s not as broken as he thinks he is. There’s something about him that draws me in.

I like him, and the longer we do this, it starts to feel like itā€™s not for show. 

All of this is fleeting.

I have to remember this is fake.

When I get what I want, Julien and I will walk away from each other.

The song will end.

But what if all I want is Julien?

I love books! I have been reading for as long as I can remember. I was the kid with the flashlight under the covers reading until the wee hours. Books were my refuge. I was delighted to discover tree climbing. I would take a book and climb to the top of a Mimosa tree and read for hours...and of course ignore my mother calling for me to do chores. I was committed to reading all of the Nancy Drew stories. Ned was my first book boyfriend. When I was in my early teens I discovered Harlequin romances. I feel in love and it changed my life. I was in love with Love šŸ’• Thatā€™s something for a girl who hadnā€™t been kissed yet. When I read ā€œhe thrust his throbbing member into her womanhoodā€ I was lost to discovering more about this particular brand of romance. But I donā€™t just enjoy romance reads. My father-in-law introduced me to the high fantasy genre and I loved it. When I bought my first Nook the world of books really took me by surprise. I was enthralled with all the available genres and to my delight I discovered erotica. In most cases, I was with family on visits to bookstores and you donā€™t peruse those even if they carried them. Oh the shame of it! ;) Thanks to Nancy Drew I still enjoy mysteries along with romance, fantasy, erotica, paranormal, steampunk, thrillers, and well, most anything except a horror of a horror. My favorite might be romance suspense but itā€™s hard for me to pick just one. I had a serious health issue a few years ago and was forced to quite working after building a career I could be proud of. It was devastating and depressing. I lost myself in books and now spend my days (and nights) reading. I am so appreciative of authors and the wonderful storytelling Iā€™ve found in books. It takes me away from my troubles and introduces me into a world like no other. I love books!
