⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another masterpiece of male dominance and depravity. No one creates a superbly decadent male character like this author and Vincent is no exception. He’s truly dark and beautiful and yummy. Up to a point. I love the back and forth between Vincent and Meadow in which this story is slowly unveiled with all its cruelty, family drama, tragedy, love, twists and sorrow. Penny is a wonderful character and her development is beautiful. Up to a point. And our sad, tortured soul, Maurice. I think he’s my favorite. Up to a point. This is like a retelling of the beauty and the beast only really twisted. I loved the first 3/4 of the book and then it fell apart. It was like someone else wrote the rest with tons of plot holes and a rushed ending. I didn’t buy Vincent’s sacrifice or Penny’s reason for running. And Maurice turning into Vincent 2.0 and his treatment of Penny and letting Vincent pay? Just no! And what happened in those 7 years for him to become a functioning human? I could go on but I don’t want to give too many spoilers because I still like the book. I will read anything by the author and love it on some level. So don’t let my opinion stop you from reading this book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
