Giovanni is certainly a mafia bad boy. He’s brutal, aggressive, dominant and he wants Emilia and he gets what he wants even if he has to take it. So take he does. Emilia is a mystery. Emilia is a survivor and strong and she tries to hold her own against Giovanni. The struggles and maneuvering between these two were the highlight of the story. I thought this story would be right up my alley but it fell short for me which is not my usual experience with this author. The great writing is there and the story hooked me from the beginning with the questions about Emilia. I just didn’t feel the connection between her and Giovanni and the romance was just okay. The story was intriguing and dark and had all the elements for a great Mafia story. I just couldn’t get on board with Giovanni and some of his antics.
