an intense page-turner, a gut-punch twist-filled story about a woman who has
confidence in herself, believes she’s a good judge of character, and has filled
her life with people she can trust. She’s right, but she’s also very, very
wrong. Readers will have a time of it trying to decide who to watch closest.Hard Focus

✺ My Review:
A thrilling romance suspense that’s well written with terrific characters. The story pulled me in from the beginning and it’s an easy read in a mystery noir style that’s superb. It’s a cautionary tale about a sensitive subject matter with devastating results on so many levels and it’s heartbreaking. The mystery was revealed at about the mid point and then it moved into a thriller waiting for the next shoe to drop. You just knew Jonas wasn’t finished. Connie is a strong, smart heroine and wonderful in her resolve to be true to herself. I loved Cole right from the beginning. Who doesn’t love a hunky fireman hero? And I do mean hero in the true sense of the word. He was a hero to little Addy, his sister and Connie. For me there were a few minor inconsistencies with the characters and the plot. Like, with Connie’s intelligence and education she would have been more than a receptionist. Connie’s family and their dynamics was a fabulous part of the story. I wish Addy had made a couple of appearances toward the end. She is so cute. Overall this is a fantastic read that draws attention to the eye-opening fallacies in our laws without being too preaching or in your face. This is my first read by this author but it won’t be my last. I really like her style!
