Whoo! This starts out heavy and doesn’t let up. Our heroine, Deirdre, is in the one place she never thought or wanted to be again…in the hands of her worst nightmare. But damn, she did it to herself! The revelations of just how little control she had over her life for the last ten years are jaw dropping. Julep is one of the best twisted villains ever. While Deirdre is going through hell, so is Gideon but in a different way. At least he finally calls in the troops with the help of Nate and rallies to go get his woman. What transpires is dangerous and heart stopping but badass Liam is on the job. Great to see characters from previous stories. The second half of Deirdre and Gideon’s story is dark, disturbing and suspenseful with lots of triggers. Both of these two have a tragic past with Deirdre having the worst of it and both have a lot to overcome to get to a good place. I had a better sense of the connection between these two in this story versus the first one and really liked how they ultimately ended up. I love this author’s enthralling writing, unique and complex characters, and beautiful romances. Terrific ending to this dark romance duet.
