“Why are you here alone, Rick Savage?”
He fixes me in a deep blue stare, and I swear I’m drifting in a sea of this man’s making. “To meet you. I just didn’t know it yet.”
The rain explodes around us again, an eternal roughening of the windows that only Texas does with such force. Thunder erupts with it, lightning in the distance, and I don’t know who moves first. Him or me. Suddenly though we’re in the middle of the seat and his fingers are tangling all rough and wonderfully in my hair, his mouth lowering to mine. “I’m going to kiss you now unless you object,” he says.
“Kiss me already, Savage.”
“Rick. Call me Rick.” And then his lips collide with my lips, his tongue a deep stroke of pure heat that has me moaning with the rush of sensation that assaults my body in the best of ways.
My arms slide around his muscular back, body pressing against his body, the hard lines of this incredible man absorbing more than the softer part of me. That need to be touched explodes inside me, demanding satisfaction. He pulls back and stares down at me. “Do you want to get out of here? Together.”
I tell myself this is crazy, insane, wildly out of my character. “I don’t do things like this. Ever.”
He kisses me again and leaves me breathless. “Make me the first.”
MY REVIEW:
Oh my goodness! Savages is a savage that leaves me tingly in all the right places! Right from the start you know this is a man that drips masculinity *shiver* and is heroic and powerful and sex on legs. And he broke the heart of the one woman for him. The lovely Candace and the one he left behind to protect her from his dark past and an uncertain future. When his past and present collide he’s back in his woman’s town and it’s on. Danger and suspense and mystery with the beautiful Candace in the middle of the political intrigue and old enemies. I loved her. She’s gentle and soft and caring but has a backbone. Savage broke her when he left and she doesn’t know if she can trust him with her heart again. Candy and Rick are so explosive when they are together. Their chemistry jumps off the pages when they‘re in the same room. The two team up with Savage’s employer, Walker Security, to solve the mystery and keep everyone safe. This is a terrific romance suspense with hot characters. There’s black ops missions, military conspiracies, assassins, all the alphabet agencies, dirty politics, intriguing family dynamics, a steamy romance and the fabulous Walker hunks. A lot going on and to keep up with and loaded me down with all the hunting for the answers. But the interspersed steamy romance kept it going. The ending is a killer. Take about hanging! I can’t wait for the next installment with this fabulously hot couple and the bad men. At least one mystery was solved. We found out why Savage hates his father. So much hurt!
