I met her through another man’s eyes.

Beauty in every sense of the word complete with hypnotizing eyes, plush lips that could do the most wicked things, and a body most men only experience in their wildest fantasies.

Fakeβ€”that’s the first thing I thought… Until she sent me a selfie flipping me off, those same beautiful eyes tempting me to lose control.

But she could never be mine.

Never.

My position doesn’t pose for it and my past won’t allow it.

I have to stay away from her, but of courseβ€”like most things in lifeβ€”that’s easier said than done.

Especially when she swerves right into my lane and purposely crosses the line.

She wants to challenge me, and while I know it’s best to veer away, I don’t back down.

This woman doesn’t know what she’s getting herself into.

And apparently, I don’t either.

MY REVIEW:

Catfishing! A exciting storyline with the modern social media trend as the underlying theme in this story. It starts out fabulous with the sexy politician with a dark side showing his true colors and the slum beauty trying to overcome her horrible past. What a pair as the elusive Wade uses his friends profile to communicate with the sexy beauty, Reagan. As she infiltrates his life as the ultimate party planner he tries to stay strong and ignore his desire for her. He has an image to uphold as the Governor making a run for President. Wade can’t afford any drama or headline making issues as he hides his underhanded dealings while appearing clean and electable. But Reagan with her banging body and quick mind is too much to resist. I loved these two at the beginning of the story but Wade stoic front was a little much and the push pull of the relationship took forever. As good as the theme was the writing was not for me. The sentence structure at times didn’t make sense and words were used incorrectly. It sorely needs editing and I almost pulled my hair our with the use of the word allude so frequently and out of context. I actual looked up the word to see if there was an obscure definition but no there wasn’t. It just threw off the story for me. There were other elements of the story that were confusing and personality traits that seemed off for the characters and lots of weird mystery surrounding both Wade and Reagan and their pasts. And it didn’t make sense that Wade’s best friend and his catfishing profile won’t be front and center for his run for President and his Governor events. And speaking of politics, why were there so many political happenings in the small state of Connecticut? It was more like DC. A pet peeve of mine is the structure of employment. The author needed to research the difference between an employee, paychecks and a contractor. Reagan was a contractor with a contract. She would not be an employee, be on his payroll or receive a paycheck. Ugh, just wrong. The cliffhanger twist at the end was terrible and didn’t make any sense. But Reagan almost came face to face with Chase, Wade’s catfishing profile. I was waiting for that confrontation but it’s part of the cliffhanger so next book. There was a lot about this story that was confusing to me but something kept me turning the pages until the end. The romance between Wade and Reagan seemed authentic and was terrific when they finally got to it. I really likes Wade’s go-getter assistant, Emmy Lou and the few appearances of his friend, Chase. With all that said, the romance was fantastic, the catfishing was exciting, the characters were likable but elements of the storyline were just too confusing and unauthentic and it was slow until the rush to the ending. One good thing, the author only hinted at Wade’s age because anything less than late thirties would have been ridiculous for a presidential candidate. Silver linings!
