How does the fairytale end when the princess ghosts out on the marriage two weeks in? Seriously. Someone tell me, because this is not how I pictured happily every after going. Sure, Lily McCandless warned me from the beginning that she didn’t do commitment. And yeah, we started out as a casual vacation hook-up. But we moved past that. We fell in love. Isn’t love supposed to conquer all? That’s what all the stupid books say.I don’t know if we can fix this. But I don’t know how to walk away from the one person who sets my whole world on fire either. I used to think that I could convince Lily to believe in a love that lasts forever; now I wonder if we’ve all been lying to ourselves. Maybe that kind of love doesn’t exist at all.
Maybe some happy endings don’t find their way until you burn them to the ground first.
Downfall is a companion novel to On Paper and part of the Bookworm Series. It can be read as a standalone but is connected to On Paper and its characters and storyline. You can also read Free Fall, a Prequel Novella which showcases how Lily and Miles met.

Wendyโs Book Blog – โI was enthralled throughout this riveting taleโฆโ
Goodreads Review (Melissa) – โMiles and Lily’s story was one of resiliency, love, uncertainty and friendship. I certainly didn’t expect their journey to be what it was but it was refreshing to read a story line that I hadn’t read before.โ

Beautiful, poignant romance with gorgeous, complex characters! So many emotions in this outstanding love story that’s beautifully written in exquisite detail. The characters come alive in realistic situations and with emotions that pulled at my heartstrings as they navigated a relationship that was equal parts heart throbbing and heart breaking. I met Lily and Miles in the first book but you don’t have to read that one to enjoy this one. It does give you a glimpse of these wonderful characters. Lily as the adventurous, live-in-the-moment, outgoing beauty and Miles as the sexy, swaggering hunk. They met at a book convention when Lily went with her book nerd friend and Miles as assistant to his author brother. Miles and Lily had an instant connection and steamy chemistry. This book gives insight to their fast romance that lead to a quickie marriage. It opens with Miles devastated as his wife of two weeks steals away in the early morning hours and breaks their marriage. My heart broke for Miles as he struggles to understand what happened. I wanted to understand. Why would Lily leave such a sweet, sexy hunk that is so perfect for her? Silly woman! The author lets us see what’s behind Lily’s carefree personality to view her vulnerability and brokenness. I started out hating Lily for breaking Miles’ heart but as her story unfolded I was just as heart broken for her. I was rooting for this couple to find their happily ever after but it wasn’t pretty or easy as they took a step back to learn each other and see if they can salvage their marriage. What a marvelous journey with these outstanding characters. Great secondary characters and family and friends in the story plus we get to see Quinn and Keaton from the first story. I love this author’s storytelling loaded with tons of emotion and beautiful characters. Worth the read!
