Dirty old men and sexcapades! Yep, that’s Oleander Manor and the Order of the Silver Ghost. The new group of initiates and their Belles fight to make it through the trials to get to the end and the big reward. The newest members of the Order hope to change the less than savory antics of the trials but the longtime friends need to make it to the end for that to happen. One made it through and one failed. Now it’s Rafe turn. He’s lived in the shadow of his older brother for too long and hopes to break free. The initiation is his chance. He’s ready but he doesn’t plan on seeing his childhood friend Fallon in the line of Belles. She wants to break free of her poor childhood, handouts, charity and take care of her mother. There was some trickery in her being chosen as the belle and Rafe’s not happy. He wants to save her from the perverse humiliation of the trials but she’s not having it. She wants revenge on the men that affected her life and mother’s. Her backstory is an OMG reveal that has her and one of the new members in a happy place. Rafe’s backstory is heartbreaking but he gets some peace at the end. I really like this series but this story wasn’t up to the previous ones. The trials were mild and light on the details. It was almost like someone else wrote this story. It was not as salacious and harsh as the previous stories The romance was a sweet second chance with a five year gap, misunderstanding and an interfering parent that leaves Rafe and Fallon with hurt feelings to overcome. I like them as a couple. The romance was good but the Initiation was lacking compared to the other stories. I was left with unanswered questions. How did Fallon’s choosing happen? Why did the marking of the Belles change? Where was Fallon’s mother in all of this? I liked the ending with the peek of Beau’s story. I hope the continuation of his story gets back to the previous dirty games and nasty old men of the Order. This was a quick read but I was left wanting more of the devious game playing, wild sex parties and attempts to break the Belle. I’m looking forward to the next installment and more of this enthralling series.
