The setting in a mining ghost town turned park is chilling. Daughter Ember is a sympathetic heroine as the young woman in the clutches of Papa Rich since a young age. I really felt her dilemma with her acceptance of her situation and choosing physical wellbeing over potential freedom. The mental torture is killer when Papa Rich goes crazy. His crazy is so gruesome. Nightmare inducing insanity. Papa Rich does a bad thing when he decides Ember needs a husband. Enter Christopher. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time! Christopher is a sexy New Yorker photographer working on a story when he is kidnapped by the ranger. What ensues is a crazy journey to a sweet love with his captive bride, the innocent Ember. But Christopher doesn’t give up the fight for his freedom. There are twists and surprises along the way with the development of a sweet relationship between husband and wife. The wild ending leaves the couple in limbo but hopefully in a better place. I can’t wait for the next installment in this captivating dark romance. Worth the read!
