Harry gets the surprise of his life when the feisty Winter delivers a sweet, little package in the form of a baby. It’s so emotional with baby Avery at the center of a tragedy. Winter wants to keep her promise to her best friend to care for the baby but the new dad is in the way. Harry turns out to be a terrific dad to his little girl and he wants what’s best for Avery. That includes Winter in her life even if she hates him. It’s a sad mess as Winter tries to reconcile her image of dirtbag Harry and the wonderful dad he is to his daughter. Meanwhile, Harry slowly becomes enamored with the fierce protector and substitute mother that Winter is to his little girl even when she throws shade at him. There’s a slow burn of hot chemistry as Harry tries to convince Winter to give him a chance. Speaking of chance…that’s the tie to the Cocky world. Chance the Aussie soccer player and his fabulous wife Aubrey who is Winter’s sister. The couple make a few appearances in the story as Winter slowly acknowledges her attraction to the hunky Harry. The connection between the two grows along with the heat but Winter has a couple of issues holding her back. This is a quick, easy read with lots of emotion and a sweet baby at the center. Dirty Harry gets dirty but the sexy times were a little tame. Usually this author’s hockey romances have a little more heat. This was still a good story with the crossover between the Blaze hockey world and the Cocky world. I love this author’s sexy hockey romances and this one has something different with a retired player center stage and a feisty heroine from the Cocky world. Loved it!
