MY REVIEW: What a terrific start to a new series by this outstanding author. I can always count on her to give me something startling and outrageous that thrills my dark little soul. This is a dark fantasy with a bunch of supernaturals set in a world like no other. I love the chimera element with so many places to go with these fascinating creations. The hero, Reyes, is one such creature that’s deadly and beautiful as he rules his kingdom along with his brothers through fear and brutality. He’s a mesmerizing character full of fire and ice with a penance for blood and depravity. Reyes is waiting on his queen to rule by his side. But that queen has a kingdom of her own even though it is in ruins after its fall to an unknown enemy. Duvessa is a fabulous heroine in a untenable position when she lands under Reyes’ rule. He is determined to force her into her role through a dirty maneuver that leaves at his mercy and in his bed. These supernaturals don’t have the human morality or ideals when it comes to sex so buckle up because it’s a decadent, heart pounding thrill ride when Duvessa tries to resist the sexy pull of Reyes. So hot! There’s a mystery surrounding Duvessa and her past ties to Reyes in addition to the intrigue of her fallen kingdom. Who is the real enemy? Reyes or another? Duvessa is determined to follow in her father’s footsteps and rebuild his legacy. But first she has to resist the forced bond with Reyes and find a way out of his kingdom. This is a fast paced story with an enthralling group of characters in an otherworldly setting. Terrific world building by this talented author. It’s dark and depraved and deliciously twisted. The ending was a jaw dropping twist that left our queen with a new mystery to solve. I can’t wait for the next installment in this fantastic new series. Loved it!

I love books! I have been reading for as long as I can remember. I was the kid with the flashlight under the covers reading until the wee hours. Books were my refuge. I was delighted to discover tree climbing. I would take a book and climb to the top of a Mimosa tree and read for hours...and of course ignore my mother calling for me to do chores. I was committed to reading all of the Nancy Drew stories. Ned was my first book boyfriend. When I was in my early teens I discovered Harlequin romances. I feel in love and it changed my life. I was in love with Love πŸ’• That’s something for a girl who hadn’t been kissed yet. When I read β€œhe thrust his throbbing member into her womanhood” I was lost to discovering more about this particular brand of romance. But I don’t just enjoy romance reads. My father-in-law introduced me to the high fantasy genre and I loved it. When I bought my first Nook the world of books really took me by surprise. I was enthralled with all the available genres and to my delight I discovered erotica. In most cases, I was with family on visits to bookstores and you don’t peruse those even if they carried them. Oh the shame of it! ;) Thanks to Nancy Drew I still enjoy mysteries along with romance, fantasy, erotica, paranormal, steampunk, thrillers, and well, most anything except a horror of a horror. My favorite might be romance suspense but it’s hard for me to pick just one. I had a serious health issue a few years ago and was forced to quite working after building a career I could be proud of. It was devastating and depressing. I lost myself in books and now spend my days (and nights) reading. I am so appreciative of authors and the wonderful storytelling I’ve found in books. It takes me away from my troubles and introduces me into a world like no other. I love books!
