MY REVIEW:
I absolutely was all in with this story right from the beginning. I love mythology and adding a new one was a delight. It’s darker than most with a heart stopping brutality that left me gut punched and a creep factor that was chilling. But I loved the darkness and the depravity but I did expect a little more, if you can believe it! It started out one way and then went a different direction about midway with more of a Hades/Persephone theme. The start was an action-packed ride as Hanna went the distance to save her father. From evil shamans to a walk/run through the underworld with a “friend”, Rasmus (yeah, something is up with him) to landing in the bed of the God of Death. He’s the Finnish version of Hades. Death is hunting for his new bride and the bounty that comes with her. Of course, his ex is a deadly creature with plans of her own and has her own minions and new family to help. I love the creatures that are new to me and the thrilling descriptions of a world that’s deadly and creepy and mind bending. Lots of twists and turns as Hanna tries to resist Death’s romantic advances to no avail. He’s one sexy god! She also wants a new chance for a life with her father, a powerful shaman. There’s a twist with Rasmus with a few hints to his true nature. The ending was an action packed affair with Hanna set to take on her future and Death’s foes storming the castle. I can’t wait for the next installment with Death on the warpath and out to make Hanna pay for her deception. A must read!
