MY REVIEW: Wow, this one was brutal. Morally gray? Nope, it’s black. I love dark bullying romances but this one made me cringe several times when Blake treated August was a brutality that was heart stopping. And why oh why didn’t August do something? She did have options but she took everything he dished out. I loved August’s softness and sweetness but she needed to find her backbone and push back especially since she was innocent of the crime against Blake. Not a big surprise when the culprit was revealed. Just tragic and sad. I kept reading because I wanted to see if the author could redeem this awful brute with sadistic tendencies. Love is a wonderful thing and even a horrible bully can succumb to sweet emotions. I loved August’s growth even if she was traumatized for most of the story. There was a lot going on with despicable activities, criminal endeavors and horrible fathers. Of course a lot of the happenings were fantastical like young men cage fighting without medical consequences. There are some terrific friendships in the story. Not a lot of romance until the end when Blake turned into a swoon worthy boyfriend. August was so forgiving. I’m glad I finished the story and I look forward to the next one.
