Wow! This was dark. I’m all for dark and gritty tales even with sensitive subject matter and I was excited to dive into this story. This one has lots of dark with a sex trafficking theme, a traumatized heroine and hunky mercenaries riding to the rescue. Sophia is abducted, held for months overseas and then sent to a sex slave auction. A quasi-military group, which Sophia’s brother belongs to, infiltrates and saves her at the last minute. This started out with sex trafficking and the details were disturbing and graphic. A lot of time spent on Sophia’s ordeal but I really didn’t get much of a feel for her other than as a victim. There was a romance element with Sophia and her savior, Creed. The story was slow moving until it morphed away from the sex trafficking theme and the action picked up. So much setup in this story without much payout now but evidently held for the continuation of the series. I loved all the guys and their backstories and can’t wait for more from them. The cliffhanger was killer and I look forward to the next installment.

love for reading began when she was a young girl, and has only continued to
grow into adulthood. S.M. lives for reading books in the romance genre and
writing novels with relatable characters. She refers to herself as a bit of a
romance junkie. S.M. loves to connect with readers and eat copious of donuts
that will surely lead to her demise (carbs are life).
