Blurb:
A faceless name.
That’s all she was when I agreed to play a part in deceiving her.
And then the unexpected happened.

We met.

I yearn for her skin against mine.
I crave her scent on my body.
I want to make her laugh and then moan.
And I do… in secret.

I promised my business partner I wouldn’t touch his sister.
But I broke that promise.

Our little dirty weekends together are no longer enough.
I want my bohemian girl in my bed every night.
She wants a ring, marriage vows, and babies
… all things that I can’t give her.

Our romance is explosive.
Our love, epic.
Our ending, miserable… unless I bend.

If I don’t bend, I’ll break.

MY REVIEW:

Boho girl and the Cajun man! I’m waffling here and trying to decide how I feel about this story. There’s some really good parts. I liked Lawrence, the beauty that’s described as a hippie which may have worked in the original but today she would be pretty mainstream. She is sweet and considerate and really lovely, except that name. I was 3/4 finished before I didn’t immediately think it was a man. Ugh! It was so disconcerting. I did love the interactions between Lawry and her posse, Ivy and Kelsey. The gal pals were authentic and hilarious! I also really liked Lucas. He is smart and sexy and so sweet to Lawry. It’s insta when they meet but the c blocking was in full force which delayed the sexy. When they finally hit the sheets it was smokin’ hot! They both have tragic events in their pasts that created the drama in the story which was as expected. The brewery guys, Lucas along with Oliver, Lawry’s brother, and Porter were up and down for me. The first part was slow and building the characters I guess but didn’t work for me. I almost stopped reading. A little angsty and the characters seemed a lot younger than their 30ish age and business owners. There were some other questionable elements but didn’t really effort the story, just niggling inaccuracies for me. I powered through to get to the sweet and sexy romance with the issues in question for Lawry and Lucas hanging. They were on the opposite sides of the issues so you could see the drama coming and then it happens and it’s emotional. The best parts for me were the sexy interactions and sweet emotion between the couple. The families were great too, other than the sperm donors. Good ending but no setup for the next story in the series. Beautiful cover!
