MY REVIEW:
Holy Cow! This was intense. After the ending in the first book I wasn’t sure how Daphne would respond to her situation but she came through like a Morelli. Well, for the most part. She still the soft sweetheart I love. She did find her backbone a couple of times and she found a few other things too. Like what she desires and who she wants to be. I love anything Midnight Dynasty and am so invested in these characters, both Morelli and Constantine, so when one is under duress I’m hurt. It’s a slow climb for Emerson to bring Daphne around. His backstory is traumatic and he’s left with a condition that’s challenging to say the least. Emerson is a tough antihero for me to swoon over but like so many of this talented author’s heroes it takes a minute and several pages to feel them. They are panty-melting, dominant hunks to the end. Emerson climbs into that category in this story but as he takes Daphne along with him there was a point where I was uncomfortable with the unfolding dominance and submission. In this author’s skilled hands the uncomfortable was over quickly and moved into hot action. Sensual, salacious, dripping action. Of course, I knew big brother brother, Leo, would not stop hunting for Daphne and what an explosion that was. Speaking of brothers…Emerson’s make a few appearances and unless bad things transpire in the next story they are a couple of sexy men that need their own stories. The ending left me heartbroken for our lovers and I can’t wait for the rest of their story. Captivating characters, intense romance and brilliant storytelling makes this a must read. Outstanding!
