Spectacular second story in this thrilling series! There’s chilling intrigue, evil villains, terrific friendship, hot love and four bad boys aka Hollow Boys. You could read this as a standalone but why?!!! The first book is absolutely fabulous and gives so much background about the Boys, the town and the murder mystery that is still ongoing in this story. There wasn’t the intense bullying in this story like in the previous one which was okay with me. A lot of this story runs parallel to the first and fills in some blanks especially with the jaw dropping hot affair between the fire god Rook and queen bee Sage. Both are reeling from the loss of Sage’s twin and the dastardly reason behind her murder. This story takes on the retribution for the murder and reveals a few new villains in not only the murder but the dark underbelly of the town and its inhabitants. The evildoing in the story was a bit unrealistic for me but it made for chilling, heart stopping mystery and suspense that is the ultimate in debauched behavior and evil deeds. The sexy Hollow Boys are misunderstood as they create chaos and run amok with their demons ruling the town and exacting revenge. These hot hunks are some of the best antiheroes I’ve read. It’s hard to pick a favorite among the four that are all so different but Rook is at the top with his fiery personality and dark demons. He’s all intense emotions and pain lover as he deals it out in brutal ways. When he targets the town’s princess Sage it’s panty melting sizzle. But she’s no pushover. Sage background is heartbreaking but there’s no breaking her. So strong and fierce and such a great match for hunky Rook. So hot! Two heroines from the first story, Briar and Lyra, befriend Sage and the three make a fearsome trio. I love the girl power in the story! A few of the evildoers are taken down but there are more unknown and out for the Boys. The ending was thrilling as the blood flows and the person responsible was a little shocking but our boy Silas was left in a bad place. I can only hope Sage makes good on her promise to find him some happy. There’s a teaser last chapter with the cold Thatcher and the unassuming Lyra for the next book. I can’t wait for it! This is a must read series!
